BRIZZ BRAZZ

Category:    Tree-creature

Origin:

Commonly found in the forests of France and Southern Germany, very rare in Britain due to lack of large thick foresty areas

Distinguishing Features:

At first glance you may not even notice a BrizzBrazz, even when ist close to you, cause it looks like a small thin very branchy rusty brown tree or bush without leaves. The many branches look entangled with each other and they sprout and grow green leaves only during the mating season.

The mating act causes two BrizzBrazz’s to get rooted to a spot. All their branches interbrace and entangle with each other and thick with green foliage. In the center of this thick tangle of branches a walnut-size wooden knob grows and slowly developes into a very tiny light brown branchy BrizzBrazz one foot high. This process takes about 36 hours. Then both BrizzBrazzes separate. The young usually clings on to the branches of it’s father. The couple separates, cause female BrizzBrazzes are known to break a young BrizzBrazzes branches and kills them thus.

BrizzBrazz’s have red glowing eyes, a feature by which you usually become aware of them, though they often keep them closed for that reason, just sensing company.

Nature:

BrizzBrazz’s are wild wood-creatures. They try to entangle wizards or other living creatures that wander through the forest, by sprouting extra branches and roots temporarily. Similar to the Devil’s snare, the woody branches will hold a wizard captured if he’s not able to free himself. BrizzBrazzes aren’t any danger to grown wizards, causing no more than bruises and scratches.

Note: do not be fooled! A BrizzBrazz is very fast on it’s wooden legs!

Food:

The BrizzBrazz catches it’s prey by staying as if rooted to one place not moving, with his eyes closed until a living creature comes close. The BrizzBrazz is a carnivore of a special kind usually catching small mammals. It sprouts extra branches and roots to enclose it’s pray until it cannot move anymore and throttles it to death. It usually sucks out an animals insides leaving fur and bones.

There have been cases known of child-wizards and muggles being caught and killed by a BB, sucked dry, leaving nothing but the skin-covered bones.

Special magical feature and use:

The leaves that only grow during mating (36 hours) are shed after the small BrizzBrazz is being born.

These leaves are very valuable for ingredients of potions especially important for brewing Skele-Gro and other bone-regrow potions.
