VUVELLE

Category:  Foxicle

Origin:

Found all over northern regions of Europe. About 300 years earlier, the Vuvelle was only found in Siberia only tolerating very cold climate.

Distinguishing Features:

The Vuvelle is a foxlike wild  magical creature with short frontlegs and much longer hindlegs which gives the Vuvelle the ability to stand on its hindlegs for up to a minute unmoving. This gives it the advantage to oversee areas. It's claws are short, firm but sharp.

The Vuvelle's fur is thick but short. Its usually brown with the back and the tail green. Usually the tummy is white or...if a female, yellowy. In the days of its sole siberian habitat, it's fur was a bright white and still some of its relatives can be found that are mainly white with a pale green back and tail. It's coat had changed over the years as the Vuvelle settled down in areas a little more south with often green fields and forests. Vuvelles also favour mountains and hills and can be found in the scottish Highlands of Great Britain and of course further north.

The Vuvelle's cry is a very unusual thing. It does not bark or howl like a wolf or dog or coyote for that matter. It's cry sounds much more like a high-pitched cry of a Baby, similar to a cat.

Nature:

The Vuvelle is rather a wild and very restless magical creature. But recent attempts to tame and domesticate this animal has shown the possibility of taming it enough for guarding use similar to the common dog. Experiments in this direction are still carried out, but it's apparent that the restlessness which is so natural to this animal can not be lost even through taming. Therefore a Vuvelle in captivity will need a lot of space and time to run and play.

If they are locked up or even tied up, they will develope a sudden strength due to an increase in body muscles and thus body shape to free themselves no matter how thick the chains are thats holding them in bondage. Against this need for freedom no magic works.

The increase in body mass also developes if the Vuvelle feels threatend or feels trapped. It can thus grow about 7 times larger in the spur of a minute appearing like a werewolf, which of course it is not. Yet in it's fear it can attack and kill.

The Vuvelle can develope a very friendly and lively nature, once it's getting used to a person. This might be a long process and takes a lot of patience as the Vuvelle is rather shy in company of humans.

Food

Vuvelles eat anything. They are scavengers and even come out of their hiding if they smell left-overs in a wastebin. Yet, they undoubtedly prefer meat to anything else and therefore enjoy to hunt and to chase. But they just as gladly eat up Mum's burnt pancakes.

Special magical featureand use:

Vuvelles mark their territory by dropping yellow soft sticky pellets the size of pearls which have rather a strong smell to it.

Therefore they are usually collected and used in the making of joke-items like Dungbombs, of which they are one of the foul ingredients. On the other hand, they are a very popular ingrediant to be added to a love-potion to strenghten the intended attraction. The use of it in parfumes makes a witch attract wizards who might not understand what's happening to them. These pellets can only be bought at the chemist.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

Addition of these pellets to love-potions or parfume does NOT create LOVE!   V
