SCREAMER

Origin:    

Distributed all over the northern Hemisphere of Europe and USA. They live in meadows and hilly regions. More frequently found though in marshy areas but ventures far for food. They live together in two’s sometimes 3.

 

Distinguishing Features:   

Has two legs, with fury oval shaped body. A long flappy crest comes up ist back ending on top of hits head-area. There is no head as such, besides the oval furry body, but instead it has on it’s front 3 blossoms each with a pair of  tiny eyes at the bottom of it. It acts just like meat-eating plant. 

The way they hunt is by sendng out a high-pitched dazzling shrill scream accompanied by a sweet smell to lure it’s prey to settle at the centre of it’s blossoms. The petals of the blossoms are of a fibre-mix of human and plant tissue. It closes it’s petals to catch the prey. Inside the blossom is a mouth with 3 triangular sharp teeth.  

The male’s blossoms are green, the females blossoms yellow. They reproduce by the male spraying his seed at the furry tummy region, where a pouch is hidden and where the eggs grow, once fertilized into small screamers. When they reach the half size of an adult, they leave the pouch.

 

Nature: 

They are usually not seen in towns, villages or busy places, but occassionally venture out into flowery gardens to catch insects, sometimes even flubberworm-larvas.

Though they aren’t initially dangerous, they can be when cornered or threatend. This is when they send out their shrill ear-piercing high-pitched scream that can stun and dazzle a wizards mind momentarily and deafens him temporarily. At the worst the wizard might be permanently deaf and dump.

Note: temporary deafness lasting about 4 – 5 days: a healer can mix an antidote potion

Permanent deafness and dumbnes: irreversable

 

Food: 

drinks clear water and eats all kind of insects. Ist even able to suck up flubberworm-larvas or similar small worms and maggots.

 

Special magical feature and use:

The Scream can be caught by a special magical devise using a the Sonar-Spell. It can be stored in bottles and tins. It can be used against an enemy to stun them or worse. 

Troublesome kids sometimes catch small Scream-portions in small bottles and tins, wearing ear-muffs to play tricks on their fellow-students or friends.  Depending on the amount of scream, the daze and deafening effect can last from momentary to several days.
