Black Forest of Germany and Bavarian forests  and all the thick forests around the german alpes. Also spread to the alpine sides of Italy, Switzerland, France and Austria. Not too common anymore. Very few have made their way into Britain and Welsh and Scottish forests.

distinguishing Features:  

A Felirufus grows to the size a grown Grizzly Bear.

It's fur is rather coarse and of course red, flaming red. The dragon-like leathery ridge that runs down its back is very soft and bendable. The silvery whiskers of this vicious cat are extremely long and usually measure between 14 - 18 inches. They give off a slight electric charge if you happen to touch it, which is not deadly to a wizard but can cause slight burns. 

The Felirufus stuns small mammals with this electric charge after which it can then simply enjoy its meal. The fangs are a larger and much longer than is common for domestic cats.   

If a Felirufus is tense or irritated it spits and hisses. The saliva of this feline contains small lava-pellets that spread everywhere just the same way as your snot does when you sneeze. The lava-pellets smoulder on whereever they land and cause burns, ashes and in some cases even creates fire. Such lava-pellets can cause deep horrible burns to a wizard's body and can set his's robes ablaze, as well as hair and beard.

A Felirufus has a wild and agitated nature. It is not easily tamed, but it can be done. It sneakes around the forests incredibly quiet and is hardly noticed until its too late. You will not hear it coming. If you should ever run into a Felirufus, under no circumstances run away, the feline would be tempted to hunt you down for his dinner. Instead stop on the very spot and fall to the ground, lie on your back and pretend to be a kitten. You might get sniffed at but it will soon notice that your not it's kitten. Once the Felirufus is out of sight get up and go about your business. 

Felirufus rarely kills wizardkind! 

Felirufis like small  - medium mammals, as well as fish and to keep their lava-glands healthy, they need to create a little fire and eat the glowing ashes. 

Special magical featureand use:

The long whiskers are used in stunning yoyo-toys. They are fixed into a long thread and rolled up into a small ball with a tag. Once pulling the tag the ball of Felirufus whisker string will unroll at great speed and stun your friend with an electric shock. It's a nice little shocker toy to have.
