Distinguishing Features: An
Aguilant is about man-high in size, possibly a little taller. Instead of
feathers it’s body and small left-over wing-bones are covered in fine
soft but thick grey fur. It’s obvious from this description, that an
Aguilant can’t fly. It has 2 long very strong and powerful
salmon-coloured legs with sharp claws on his toes that it can retract. The only feathers it has are at the side of it’s head, and a handful on it’s small stubby tail. It’s eagle like large beak is very sharp.

Nature: In
general the Aguilant isn’t really dangerous or agressive. It is quite
possible to tame one if one knows how to do it, like knowing how they
live and what they like. Their beak is mainly used for picking up food
rather than attacking or pecking. It’s
eyes are very sharp and can see a long distance. It has the ability to
slow-motion what it observers and therefore never fails to catch his
prey when hunting. It’s
two powerfull legs though,
can be very dangerous, cause an Aguilant starts kicking when unhappy or
not treated properly. What an Aguilant doesn’t like at all is shrill
whistling. It also gets rather agrevated over common giggling-sounds.
When thus set off, an Aguilant goes mad and starts kicking anything or
anyone around it. Wizard-children need to take the greatest of care, not
to get trodden on. Depending on where one gets kicked, it could be
fatal. A
very popular feature of the Aguilant is his ability to learn words and
short sentences, which it can copy in tone, sound and dialect of
who-ever is coaching him. Aguilants
pair up only for fertilizing the egg. The female lays the egg in it’s
nest, which is usually made of grass and small soft branches, then it
calls for a male. A successful calling will make a male Aguilant come to
fertilize the egg. From then on, the female looks after it’s egg by
herself. Aguilant’s only lay one egg a year. The foetus in the egg will need about 5 months to grow before it hatches. The young Aguilant stays with it’s mother till fully grown.

Food: The
favorite food of the Aguilant is fish, Segvenifer (poisonous snail) and
flubberworms. The way it kills them is by treading on it then picking it
up with it’s beak. They can catch fish in shallow rivers or lakes by
wading into the water and waiting silently until it’s sharp eyes see
the movement under the water, which then it treads on very fast. The Aguilant also nibbles on insects or Termitongs, when it crosses it’s way.

Special
magical feature and use: Egg-shells: the egg-shells are used in powerful shield- and protective potions. The egg-yolk should be eaten raw and will help children with bad eye-sight to heal. If an Aguilant-egg-yolk is being fried before eating, it can increase the normal distance a person can see things sharp and clear. |
